Peel has recently recruited Annapurna, the nationally recognised Indian Dance company, which relays the stories of Indian mythology, history and folklore through its beautiful and allegorical repertoire of traditional dances.
Just learning one or two of the traditional Bharata Natyam dances will give passengers an incredible insight into Indian culture, an understanding which will really enrich the cruise as well as the trips to India’s mesmerising cities and historical landmarks.
We have also signed Punjabi Roots Academy to deliver Dohl drumming workshops to entertain guests and teach newcomers a range of exercises with the drums.
The acclaimed drumming group is led by Davinder Singh who is best known for his drumming on Panjabi MC’s worldwide bhangra hit ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’. Bhangra dancing originated with Dohl drumming, both celebrating the harvest with a festival and feasting, so it is very uplifting.
Both Annapurna and Punjabi Roots Academy will be entertaining and enlightening thousands of passengers on board the Marella Discovery cruise ship this December. Setting sail from Dubai and travelling to Langkawi in Malaysia via the coast of India.
